Kimono style robe
Today I sew this kimono style knee length robe. The pattern (Burda 2/2012) was super easy and quick to sew (I was really speedy compared to my usual laziness). Only thing that caused little problems was the hem and neck bands but it was just because the fabric I chose for the those was difficult itself (it’s bit shiny and slippery). Main fabric is cotton my dad bought from Tanzania ~10 years ago. I’m probably going to use robe mostly at home but I might wear it as a coat for a fancy party or something like that. I think it’s really pretty, even the colours work perfectly (red and blue are not my fav colours). :)

I LOVE the colors & pattern you picked for it!! SO GORGEOUS! :D
I love this robe!!! You are very talented when it comes to sewing!
I think that an interesting thing to note is the fact that real kimonos are made from exactly one bolt of cloth with no remnants, so all those straight lines to sew, they look really great but are actually quite easy to make, and to clean them the seams can be entirely ripped out and then restitched. I have a handmade full size yukata that a friend made me :D
@macca: I didn’t know that, but now that you say, it makes sense thinking the pictures I have seen. Might do proper yukata in some point actually. :D
